I’ve been having a live sale once a week for approx. 4 years now, something like that. Now of course there were a few times here and there, where for one reason or another I didn’t go live.
*If you don’t want to read it all, I run through a quick list in the video at the bottom of this post. Ever since I started going live, my business took off. It’s been amazing to see the difference in income going live offers you, opposed to just posting pictures in your group or on your fan page.

First Things First, Prep Your Products
Prepping your sale is imperative. To do this, you’ll want to have made all the products you want to offer during that sale. Decide what your goal income is for it. Then create enough product to SURPASS that goal. The likeliness of you selling every single thing offered is pretty low. So you’ll want to make more than just enough to meet the goal. Then you’ll want to use a sheet of paper…or if you want to be really organized this live sale sheet I created for you.
You’ll put a number in/on each product you’ll be offering, and write that number on the sheet with the description, price, and how many of that product you have. This way, when you do go live, you can show the product, describe it, and give the number & price right off the form in front of you.
When someone claims the item, write their name next to that number. EASY! Having the number in/on the item, will help you after the sale is done. Then, when you’re ready to pack and ship, you can see who ordered what based on the paper, and easily find the corresponding item since its numbered. Here are some numbers you can purchase to make things easy for you, instead of writing out numbers on scraps of paper like I did forever. So professional right!?
Announce Your Event
Once you’ve got your items prepped, you’ll want to announce your plans for the sale a good handful of times through out the week before leading up to the sale. Make cute and exciting graphics announcing it to get the attention of your customers, like below. I use
You can even create an event and invite your customers to the sale and FaceBook should send them a reminder.
NOTE: if you have more than 500 customers in your group, Facebook will not let you invite them. It’ll only invite your “friends” that are in the group. BUMMER! But, you can also post the graphics and announcements on your fan page, assuming you have both..which you should! I’ll be doing another post on that topic next week! Another tip you can do to help get attention for the sale, is to take a quick video of sneak peaks of products you will be offering. Make it a bright and fun picture!
Real Quick
Some things you might want or need to help it be the best it can, expecially if you plan to do live sales often.
This is the exact light I use. You want it in front of you, behind your screen, so that your face is bright, if you are doing your sale at night.
The Day Before Your Sale
I highly suggest doing a practice live. How you’ll do this, go live on your personal page, but before you click “go live” you’ll change the post settings to “only me” can see it. That way while you’re live, no one else can see you making a fool of yourself practicing. No one needs to see all that.
For this, you just want to see how it looks showing product. How’s the lighting, do you hear a ton of background noise, is the background cluttered or something behind you distracting to the viewers etc.
While You’re Live
The first minute or so of the live sale there’s always an awkward time while you’re waiting for viewers to join. During this time, I always say “If you’re watching this right now you’re watching the replay” because there are no viewers at that time, it will make sure to tell people that watch it later, that you are no longer live. You can also use this first few minutes to announce any upcoming plans you have for the business. Welcome viewers, ask them how they’re doing, and share how you’re day went etc. You’ll want to make sure to not sit and wait quietly because as you’re waiting, people will jump on see you’re not doing anything, and jump off. Keep in mind that people are impatient.
Getting More Viewers to Join
So if it’s your first live, or one of your first, you may want to ask close friends or family to make sure to join the live right when it starts to help encourage other people to join also. Then as people get on to watch you can ask them to tag friends they think would love your items, or even share your video. I sometimes offer a drawing for a free prize for sharers. So at the end of the live sale, once you turn it off, you can see who all shared the video. You can choose a winner as a thanks for sharing and supporting you.
Last Few Things
Energy- You’ll want to keep your energy high! Be excited about your product, so they’ll be excited about it also.
Be yourself- letting your customers get to know you is SO IMPORTANT. If your customers feels a connection with you, they are MUCH more likely to order from you.
Engage- have conversations with your viewers. Ask them questions (Hows your day, tell me something interesting about yourself etc) you can do this while also showing products. The more you engage with your customers, and ask about them, the more they feel like you truly care about them…which you should! And the last thing, is get dressed. I’ve talked about this before but its so important.
Get Dressed- Whatever “getting dressed” is for you. So for me I feel the most confident when I am dressed, with makeup and my hair done. Now, I HAVE gone live not fully put together, but it took a while for me to feel comfortable enough to do that. You want to be at your absolute most confident while you’re on video for the world to see. (it wont be the whole world lol just like 20-50 viewers) at first is pretty average.

That’s all I can think of for now. I know this was a bit lengthy. I just feel like the more you know before you go, the more successful you’ll be! Wishing you lots of blessings over your business!
Also if you have any tips you’ve done that help you, I’d LOVE to hear them. Leave me a comment with those, or let me know what helped you most from this post, or the video below. Thanks!
